Teen/Young Adult Learn-to-Skate

For skaters aged 13 and older who are interested in learning the basics of skating.  Skaters will work on CanSkate Stages 1-6, in a group lesson format.  Groups will be organized and adjusted as needed to support individual goals and ensure a safe and enjoyable session for all.

Required Equipment (Skaters must provide their own equipment):

  • Figure skates or hockey skates.
  • CSA Approved Helmet (face mask optional) – this is MANDATORY. Skaters will not be permitted on the ice without a proper helmet.
  • Helmet must be in good condition (straps and snaps working, helmet not damaged).
  • Warm athletic clothing (no jeans, scarves or hoodies).
  • Gloves and warm, waterproof layers are recommended.
  • HARD/Walking Skate guards are required, to ensure safe exit from the building in an emergency.

Former StarSkaters (figure skaters) who are looking for a refresher to return to skating should reach out to the club via email info@ancasterskatingclub.ca before joining the program to determine if:

  • This is the appropriate program for their needs,
  • The club requires the skater to wear a helmet initially based on the skater’s background and time away from the sport.
